RYA Level 1 Start Sailing Margate Yacht Club

Join us at Margate Yacht Club for the RYA Level 1 Start Sailing course, a two-day introduction to dinghy sailing. This course is ideal for complete beginners or anyone looking to build confidence on the water.

Over the weekend, you'll receive expert instruction from qualified RYA trainers, combining shore-based learning with plenty of practical time afloat.

Course Overview:

Introduction to sailing and boat handling

Basic sailing techniques: steering, stopping, and turning

Sailing across the wind and downwind

Launching and recovering a dinghy

Capsize drills and essential safety skills

Understanding wind direction and points of sail

Building confidence and independence on the water

What's Included:

• Two full days of training
• Use of club boats and equipment
• RYA Level 1 certificate on successful completion

This ticket includes two full days of on-the-water training, led by qualified RYA instructors. You’ll learn the essential skills needed to sail confidently, including boat handling, basic manoeuvres, and safety awareness.

Non-Members – £250
Includes the full 2-day course plus one year’s membership to Margate Sailing Club.
Club Members – £150
Discounted rate for current Margate Sailing Club members.
